I wanted to take a second to say, this thread or post should be where we all introduce ourselves, what we make, and maybe a skill or project we'd like to work on in the near future.
I feel like it would give those in the shop around us a better idea of who we are as Makers, and maybe an idea of where to turn for different expertise.
So I'll start,
Hi Folks, I'm Thomas Tusano,
My main working Medium is Wood, but I have experience with Metal, and a few hundred hours of Shopbot and Laser Cutting/Engraving under my belt, with a specialty in sprayed Finishes, and A deep love of making Desks, Tables and marveling at unique furniture pieces.
I mainly make cutting boards and home goods, but my big claim to fame is working on super nerdy things for dice and video games. When I'm not in the shop at Makerworks, I stream Video Games online as a source of inspiration for my next build, and I'm working on building two YouTube channels around both Making and Video Games. I have a broad knowledge of online culture, and a decent network of connections on social media in various Pop/Pulp Culture communities.
The dream project I'd love to do, is a fully functioning version of the Chest of Sorrows from Sea of Thieves, as a very large water element or desk/table fountain, and an entire series of treasure chests and boxes from the game itself.
What brought me to Makerworks was the culture of welcoming and the tools, but these days I find myself staying for the community and the amazing people that I've been lucky enough to know and work with as a Maker.
What about the rest of you all?
